![]() ![]() ![]() New Principal and Assistant Principal Announced
Welcome Kelly Wilson, principal; and Dr. Cherylin Lew, assistant principal, to the 2010-2011 Alternative Education Staff. The Alternative Education program would like to welcome Kelly Wilson, principal; and Dr. Cherylin Lew, assistant principal, to the 2010-2011 Alternative Education Staff. Kelly Wilson, formerly the principal at Kennedy High School, was named principal of Alternative Education in late June 2010. Mr. Wilson taught chemistry, physics, biology, and life and physical sciences at Katella and Loara high schools for nine years. He also coached a variety of sports, including water polo, swimming, tennis and golf. In 1999, he started his administrative career as an assistant principal at Dale Junior High School, and then moved into that role at Kennedy. Mr. Wilson has a bachelor’s degree in life sciences from Cal State Fullerton and his master’s degree in educational administration from National University. Dr. Cherylin Lew comes to us from Hope High School where she served as an assistant principal. Dr. Lew was an occupational therapist, therapy supervisor and lead therapist for two hospitals and a private facility before she became an independent contractor in the field, providing services to the AUHSD, among other clients. She also worked as a faculty and staff occupational therapist at USC and in the Monrovia school district. Dr. Lew also was a program specialist at Hope High School. She has a bachelor’s and a master’s in occupational therapy from USC, in addition to a master’s in educational psychology from National University. She most currently completed her doctorate in occupational therapy from USC. In addition to our newest administrative members we would also like to welcome the third member of our administrative team, Nancy Malotte. Last year Mrs. Malotte served as the assistant principal on the Gilbert West campus. Ms. Malotte was an athletic trainer, school secretary and worked in private industry before she started her career as a teacher. She taught physical education, health and driver's education at two high schools in the Glendale school district before coming to the AUHSD in 1989. At Dale Junior High School, she taught special education for 10 years and was twice named Dale’s Teacher of the Year. She started her administrative career at Walker Junior High as an assistant principal before joining the alternative education program last year. She has a bachelor’s degree in physical education and sports medicine from Chapman University and her master’s in education from Chapman. We welcome our new administrators to the Alternative Education Staff, and look forward to working with our new administrative team in the 2010-2011 school year. |
